Yummy Eats in Padang Merdeka

Image
Weeeeeeeeeeee, first post in 2017!!!! Hahaha I'm glad that you're glad to see me making appearance in my long abandoned blog once again. :p How's life? Mine's occupied with new schedule of tutorials and starts preparing for the new academic year at school. I'm back from holiday, back to reality. What I love the most every time I return to Indonesia was their exotic, spicy foods...so delish!!! I'm not a fan of spicy foods but staying here for how many years, my taste buds get accustomed into it. It grows my tolerance bite by bite. Talking about food, we ended up dining in one of the restaurant in the heart of Jakarta's Old Town, Padang Merdeka for late lunch. As we made our way into the restaurant, there was this friendly wait staff standing by at the counter, ready to allocate table for us in its warm and cozy dining area. The name of the restaurant speaks for itself. It showcase a unique dining atmosphere celebrating the Indonesian spirit. Mural Pai...

Penang Trip: Hawkers Street Food Experience in Georgetown

Image
Yay!!! So thankful that most of my tutorial students now were having their term break. I finally squeezed out some time to filter those photos which have been long abandoned on my Asus phone drive. We-fie before the flight to Penang =) Mood: Excited Here's the inside scoop of our last teacher's trip in Penang, Malaysia. We first stopped in St. Giles Wembley hotel, a 4 star hotel nestled in the heart of Georgetown. Waiting to check - in at the cozy lobby area. Spacious, clean and tidy. Really enjoyed our 3D2N stay here. =p Bathroom with transparent glass complete with bathroom essentials. After a quick refreshing shower, we headed down to their hawker centre, to hunt for food. First try is their famous Lok - Lok in town. It is a variety of food in sticks dipped into a pot of boiling water and then dip into different types of sauce (chili sauce, sweet sauce or peanut sauce). Tailor it to the taste of your liking. Lok-lok, which means dip-dip. Kinda like the taste. I wa...

Weekend at Kawah Putih, Bandung

Image
Yet another crater lake visit! Kawah Putih or White Crater of Gunung Patuha located in Ciwidey southern part of Bandung was mesmerizing. It was the most beautiful that we encountered in Bandung thus far. Initially, there were more places such as Lembang Floating Market, De Ranch to visit on our schedule, but it just seemed like mission impossible considering the average time we spent to travel from one place to another. It took us six hours from Jakarta to Ciwidey (4am to 10am) on a Saturday morning. Not to mentioned the road and traffic conditions on the way. The climate was very cold and refreshing though a sharp and acidic smell of sulfur dioxide filled the whole area. The acidity of the lake had painted the sand and the rocks around the crater with a white wash, making the whole scene charmingly mysterious. Good click, Pak Dedi! We're so lucky to have Pak Dedi who happened to be our driver, tour guide, translator and a photographer. I hit the jackpot isn't it? ...

Go-Jeck + Washoku Sato Saturday Brunch

Image
Hello all!!! I'd long been intrigued by the increasing popularity and demands for the Go-Jeck motorbike services recently so I took a chance and ordered it going to my tutorial area and I thought I should share about the experience! Go-jeck is an alternative transportation in Jakarta founded by tech and innovation enthusiast Nadiem Makarim. I'd tried to download their app using my Samsung phone and the booking was made simple and easy. Very impressive! You can place your order, be it instant courier service, transport, or to buy food or other things. I really like the fact that the photo of the driver and their contact number appear in the app so it makes me feel safe with the built in GPS tracking system. Tadah! Quick selfie while using Go-jeck motorbike service! Please excuse my loose Go-jeck motorcycle helmet. Huh! It's way way too big for me thus it covers my eyes completely. LOL! :D To sum up, Go-jeck motorbike services, is definitely a must try. Considering Jakart...

Randomness in My Life

Image
I'm back! Work has been keeping me busy, as usual and always. But here is the quick update from me. Happy to say that my husband was here for a vacation till December. (Gosh, love is in the air!!!) It's been amazing 10 years to marked in our calendar. We're far apart from each other, but distance doesn't count if there is love in between. It was the faith that brought us together. Inspite of having no children of our own..... we are blessed in so many ways and we are happy together. We do believe that Yahweh, our Almighty God, is really amazing and will open the doorways for us soon in His right timing. #decadesmore #fingerscrossed Instead of going for a routine of window shopping at Central Park, (the mall near the apartment), we brought ourselves to the Eco Park in Ancol for a sight seeing and photo - shooting experience. I supposed it would be nice strolling and shooting under the bright sunny weather and it indeed was! With Ms. Vika and Mr. Buwang happy...

Falling In love to Green Smoothie

Image
We went for a 2 mile run today with my friend Vika and right after the run, we passed by to the newly open restaurant 'Kiter' to have some refreshing drinks. The owner encourage us to try their best selling drinks, Pineapple - watermelon green smoothie with bok choy. The first time I've heard of tossing leafy greens like Bokchoy to a smoothie, I must admit, I was skeptical. What? I wasn't sure if the vegetables would add strange taste or have lingering bitter taste into it. I once gave it a try, and I was hooked! It taste good, seriously! I can barely taste the vegetables. The flavour is balance with the natural sweetness of pineapple and tartness from the watermelon. This gonna be on my favourite lists for sure =D The green smoothie there are truly the best that I've had! No wonder, my friend Vika, have always reiterated the need for us to try this place. Highly recommend you to try it too! ;D

YAKULT Sukabumi Factory Tour 2014

Image
Tired to the bone after reaching home.....Huh! the most busiest and hectic day out of the week, I can say! But with all the knowledge and understanding that we had learned out of today's study tour, helps to washed away the stress of the day.... it wasn't something anyone could easily forget. We, the teachers and students of Penabur International School took a visit to one of the famous factory that engaged in the production of fermented milk, known as "Yakult" based in Sukabumi, Indonesia. The company was first established on February 20, 1990 in Jakarta but later transferred to Sukabumi due to its accessibility to clean water and sanitation. We're being greeted by an in-house guide who took us towards their lecture hall where we were given a complimentary bottle of Yakult. There we listened to the representative of Yakult as he gave a presentation on the background of the company and products, whilst sipping on that heallthy delicious drink. Hmmmm......sa...
