Touring Around Bogor

Happy Sunday, peeps! It feels so awesome to eventually get to write up a blog post in the most peaceful and relaxing evening.

A few days ago our school stumbled out of the hustle and bustle of Jakarta and into a quiet, beautiful, greenery lush and refreshing morning in Bogor, West Java for another inspiration field trip. We always like incorporating a bit of history into our field trips, so this field trip starts off with a visit to the Bogor Presidential Palace, the largest of the six presidential palace in Indonesia.

Bogor Presidential Palace, known as Istana Bogor

Istana Bogor is more than just a palatial building. It also played the vital part in the heritage of Indonesia and holds many political and international meetings such as the APEC Summit last 1994. Sadly, for security reasons, we're not lucky to take a closer look inside since it was currently serves as the residence of the Indonesian President. No chance to get in, unfortunately. Keeping the historical theme going we made our way to the Museum Kepresidenan.

The second part of the day was spent doing a little of sight seeing and touring around the Botanical garden just adjacent to the palace. Unfortunately, flowers are not fully bloom and wasn't in their peak season.

Shimmering green everywhere! :D

We then made our way over to the LAI Publishing company that specializes in Christian books especially the Bible (Alkitab). We were able to witness first hand how's the production phases for the Bible.

The Production Phase

Not only we were able to watch the bible being printed and sorted in the production area, there were also samples of Bible scripts given freely to the students as their souvenirs. So amazed to see students with pure joy beaming from all of their faces after receiving the sample Bible scripts. ;););)

A few tips if you are visiting Bogor Presidential Palace and the Bogor Botanical Garden

1. Bags, foods and drinks are not allowed inside the Bogor Presidential Palace. You may be asked to leave it at the security guard post near the entrance gate.

2. Make an appointment beforehand when visiting the Bogor Presidential Palace. It only opens annually every first week of June in celebrations to Bogor's birthday.

3. Toilets are available on site. However, I would recommend you bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer in case there isn’t any available.

4. Don't forget to apply some mosquito repellent when touring around the Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Bogor).

5. Bring some water bottles with you to keep you hydrated. There are plenty of shaded paths to escape the sun as you explore the garden.
