Touring Around Bogor

Image
Happy Sunday, peeps! It feels so awesome to eventually get to write up a blog post in the most peaceful and relaxing evening. A few days ago our school stumbled out of the hustle and bustle of Jakarta and into a quiet, beautiful, greenery lush and refreshing morning in Bogor, West Java for another inspiration field trip. We always like incorporating a bit of history into our field trips, so this field trip starts off with a visit to the Bogor Presidential Palace, the largest of the six presidential palace in Indonesia. Bogor Presidential Palace, known as Istana Bogor Istana Bogor is more than just a palatial building. It also played the vital part in the heritage of Indonesia and holds many political and international meetings such as the APEC Summit last 1994. Sadly, for security reasons, we're not lucky to take a closer look inside since it was currently serves as the residence of the Indonesian President. No chance to get in, unfortunately. Keeping the historical theme goi...

Weekend at Kawah Putih, Bandung

Image
Yet another crater lake visit! Kawah Putih or White Crater of Gunung Patuha located in Ciwidey southern part of Bandung was mesmerizing. It was the most beautiful that we encountered in Bandung thus far. Initially, there were more places such as Lembang Floating Market, De Ranch to visit on our schedule, but it just seemed like mission impossible considering the average time we spent to travel from one place to another. It took us six hours from Jakarta to Ciwidey (4am to 10am) on a Saturday morning. Not to mentioned the road and traffic conditions on the way. The climate was very cold and refreshing though a sharp and acidic smell of sulfur dioxide filled the whole area. The acidity of the lake had painted the sand and the rocks around the crater with a white wash, making the whole scene charmingly mysterious. Good click, Pak Dedi! We're so lucky to have Pak Dedi who happened to be our driver, tour guide, translator and a photographer. I hit the jackpot isn't it? ...

Reminiscing the Past: Team Chemistry at Work

Watching the controversial and phenomenal EAT BULAGA KalyeSerye TV Novela "Aldub: Tamang Panahon" held yesterday in Philippine Arena, the world's largest indoor arena, while writing this blog. Doubling up the time I usually spend to come up with a blog post. LOL! Needless to say, I'm fairly intrigued by this new love team in my hometown, Philippines, how thousands of fans flocked into that arena to watch and witness this newly rising stars "Aldub" and on how they even surpassed and smashed the world tweet records!!! Then I kept watching. The Result? MIND BLOWN! Hahaha! No wonder my husband really devote huge chunks of his time to watch their shows in Youtube. Hmmmm (jealous) Wkwkwkwk!!! It's officially one year since our last Cambridge International Examinations for Chemistry Practical for IGCSE and A - Level. This morning, I woke up with a push notifications from my facebook account, some throwback photos our Chemistry team had for the past three ...

Go-Jeck + Washoku Sato Saturday Brunch

Hello all!!! I'd long been intrigued by the increasing popularity and demands for the Go-Jeck motorbike services recently so I took a chance and ordered it going to my tutorial area and I thought I should share about the experience! Go-jeck is an alternative transportation in Jakarta founded by tech and innovation enthusiast Nadiem Makarim. I'd tried to download their app using my Samsung phone and the booking was made simple and easy. Very impressive! You can place your order, be it instant courier service, transport, or to buy food or other things. I really like the fact that the photo of the driver and their contact number appear in the app so it makes me feel safe with the built in GPS tracking system. Tadah! Quick selfie while using Go-jeck motorbike service! Please excuse my loose Go-jeck motorcycle helmet. Huh! It's way way too big for me thus it covers my eyes completely. LOL! :D To sum up, Go-jeck motorbike services, is definitely a must try. Considering Jakart...

SCIENCE in ACTION

Life’s been busy in our school this quarter as teachers and students prepare for several important events. ICAS exams, additional classes everyday for Cambridge exams on Oct - Nov, school's accreditation and Open House just to name a few. The teachers, staff and students worked extremely hard to get ready for this milestone of events and everyone did an amazing job. A number of our secondary school Science students had their Sciwork exhibited in the annual Open House last September 19,2015 at Penabur International School. It was wonderful to see the whole community come together and celebrate the work of students. It was a great opportunity for parents and some of their relatives to see first hand the kinds of work and thinking what their children do at school. The exhibition showcased the energy, efforts, and two- & three-dimensional creativity of our talented students in the area of Science. Silver tree redox reactions. The production of silver by the reaction of Cop...
