Singapore Botanic Garden: A Timeless Tropical Eden

This shall be the beginning of another 4 more posts to follow. All 5 posts is about our rejuvenating walk to the timeless tropical Eden situated in Singapore.

Singapore Botanic Garden is just five minutes away from bustling Orchard Road. They said that it is a lush sanctuary in the heart of the city. And I strongly agree with them.

To keep you tracked....the idea of this national garden was started in 1822. A living monument of the founding father Sir Stamford Raffles.

The present site of the Gardens was founded in 1859 by an Agri-Horticultural Society. Planned as a leisure garden and ornamental park, the Society organised flower shows and horticultural interests.

In 1874, this oasis of beauty and greenery was soon handed over to the Government.

Today, the 63 - hectare (155.7 acre) garden is home to a great diversity of tropical plants set in verdant landscapes. Admission to the Garden is free except for the National Orchid Garden which costs for about 5 SG$. If you're a student or a Senior Citizens 60 years old above you only pay for 1 SG$; 12 years old below is free.

Let's talk a walk and see what does the Botanical Garden has to offers....

Swan Lake

Almost as old as the garden, the serene Swan Lake was completed in 1866.

Two white mute swans from Amsterdam gliding gracefully over the lake's smooth water.

Sceneries around the Swan Lake

This place is familiar with its timeless landmark, the swan statue.

So relaxing! What a quiet day away from the city life!

So breathtaking! that even animals are attracted into it.

For me, this is one of the best value thing we've done in Singapore...really worth a visit.
