Truly Rewarding Experience at Universal Studios Singapore

The Universal Globe and the USS Entrance Archway
For the first few hours upon arrival in Singapore,we started our itinerary the next day to Sentosa Island. Since Universal Studios was recently launched last 18 March 2010, it ranked 1 to our toplist itinerary. Unfortunately, when we get there, the park's ticket had already been sold out for that period. As it was expected, it was a school holiday season so getting tickets for that period was hard. Be warned for those planning to go to Universal Studios, you must buy your tickets in advance to save your time some more.

Luckily, I was able to booked our ticket through internet using my Visa Card right on the 25th of December...yay! what a Christmas gift for us!
After all the Construction biddings since 2007, this one - of - its kind theme park in Asia had its soft opening period from 18 March 2010. As part of of a growing and innovative part of the world, this newest theme park showcases a total of 24 attractions and rides which gives excitement in the hearts of thrill seekers and fun lovers worldwide.

The park consists of seven uniquely themed zones which surrounds a lagoon. Each zone is based on a blackbuster movie or a television show featuring their own unique attractions, character appearances, dining and shopping areas.

The entrance to the park makes up the first zone, Hollywood. A broadway-style theatre, is accompanied by several restaurants and a variety of flagship shops.
Special character appearances include: Po from Kung Fu Panda, Frankenstein's Monster, Woody Woodpecker, Winnie Woodpecker, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Beetlejuice and Betty Boop.

During this day, I've got a chance to take photo with Po from Kung Fu Panda.

The streets of Hollywood are lined with unique shops, such as  Superstar Candies, Star Characters and other tasty restaurants.

From the streets of Hollywood, visitors suddenly stroll onto the streets of New York, the next zone in Universal Studios Singapore. This zone also have a replica of the famous New York Public Library with two lion statues at its entrance.

After leaving New York, we emerged into Sci - Fi City, the perfect zone for science fiction. Here it features the world's tallest pair of duelling roller coaster that are based on the hit television series, Battlestar Galactica. Just looking at it, will tell you that it is really terrifying and quiet challenging ride. Too bad that it's still down for repair and not yet operating :(.

Next step is into Ancient Egypt, the fourth zone in Universal Studio. It features obelisks and pyramids which are typical of Ancient Egypt. Though we haven't tried the Battlestar Galactica, the Revenge of the Mummy ride is another option for us which I think is equally exciting...all in total darkness.

and the Pharaoh.......

To relax ourselves after the terrrifying Mummy Ride, we tried the Treasure Hunters. A car ride where guests young and old can drive their own vintage desert jeeps through an abandoned Egyptian excavation site.

Trekking out of Ancient Egypt leads us even further back in time, to the Lost World (the fifth zone). It contains many traditional attractions such as the Jurassic Park based on the popular film franchise by Steven Spielberg and novels by Michael Crichton and the Waterworld, based on the film Waterworld starring Kevin Costner.

Waterworld, Prepare to get Wet!

It's rainy during this time so we decided to find shelter and found ourselves into the world of fairy tales, also known as Far Far Away (sixth zone). While waiting for the rain to stop, we entered the castle and watched the exciting 4 -D Shrek films. We see, hear, and feel the action right from our seat. Most especially when the donkey snizzes......grrrr.....yay!

The Sisters and the Puss in Boots

We stop over at the Fairy Godmother's potion Shop to buy some Shrek memorabilia, drinks and colorful gifts before heading to the last zone.

To top it off is the Madagascar zone based on the charming animated movie chronicling the antics of shipwrecked animals namely Alex, Gloria, Marty and Melman.
Whew! What an experience! No wonder interest is so high in this thrilling theme park. It offers reasonable rates from 66SGD for one day adult pass. Ideal for the whole family. I'll bring my mom here someday.
