Tanah Lot Bali: Temple on the Rock
Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It was part of our schedule on day 2 to visit here before exploring the long sandy beach of Kuta known as the surfing paradise.
Ticketing office
Me and my friend Adine basically took a slow walk around the compound, passing by a maze of street food stands and souvenir shops before we reach the place.
The traditional entrance to most Balinese temple and sacred places - the split gate
The impressive stoneworks
A different angle
We visited the temple the week of their celebration of Hari Raya Gulungan and Kuningan and spotted several devotees praying in the temple.
Quiet moments of prayer in the inner courtyard
Stunning blue skies crowned this fabulous visit and made us take more than a 100 pictures.....Take a look for yourself ;)
Amazing view of Tanah Lot
Beautiful Day
Gorgeous Pura Batu Bolong
The gorgeous Pura Batu Bolong was also another Hindu temple located on the northern side of the Tanah Lot, built on another rocky formation with an archway under it. Bolong means "a hole". Kecak dance fire show can also be enjoyed by tourists here in Tanah Lot with the beautiful sunset, giving you an exquisite setting. Unfortunately, we already bought the ticket at Uma Dewi in Denpasar for the kecak dance fire show. Looking forward to watch this in the future =D
Kecak Dance performances is held here at Surya Mandala Cultural Park Tanah Lot located on the western side of the Batu Bolong temple.
After about 60 minutes walking around and taking it all in, we started heading out but stopped every few meters to admire the wonderful place. We found several restaurants nearby and decided to eat at a small and rustic place, the Dewi Sinta restaurant.
Yum, yum, here comes our tummy - feeding time =D
Tanah Lot is definitely a must see for everyone, worth visiting if you are in Bali. You will appreciate its intrinsic details, the thoughtfulness, and the love put into building this place. Having a picnic here can also be fun. If you forgot to bring one, then food stalls on the area will be able to satiate any appetite or at least quench your thirst with the many cool drinks available.
The Two of Us
Thanks to my friend Adine for some of the nicer shots you see here xoxo
